Search

Select type of trademark by checking the top box(es) in the search image (must be checked for each new search). DK trademark is default, but can be left out by deleting the ‘check mark’ in the box (click on the box)

General information about the use of the search fields in the displayed image: You can click on ‘?’ (placed left of each search field) to display help and rules (incl. examples).

All search fields are ‘case insensitive’ i.e. both small and capital letters may be entered without influencing the search result.

Truncation: * is used for truncation. At least two letters/numbers must be entered in front of or behind ‘*’. It is possible to use either right or left truncation (e.g. 1999001* entered in the application no. field will search for all files beginning with 1999001: 199900100 – 199900199).

Truncation can only be used if the operator in front of the field is ‘=’

Masking: ? is used for masking (in replacement of a letter or a number, e.g. Pe?ersen search for both Petersen and Pedersen). Masking can only be used if the operator in front of the field is ‘=’

Search fields containing numbers and dates: a given format must be used in such fields. Specific information about this format will be displayed if you click on ‘?’ against each field. In front of these search fields, you can also choose between the following operators:

= (equal to)

greater than

less than

from/to –the field will be split up into two fields enabling you to conduct an interval search.

In search fields containing names and mark text, advanced searches can be conducted if ‘=’ is selected in front of the field. Examples of operators, which can be used in these search fields, are shown below:

AND: word1 and word2 – search result: files containing both words/numbers.

OR: word1 or word2 – search result: files containing at least one of the words/numbers (in number fields, date fields and class fields it is possible to use a blank (space key) to replace ‘or’ if the operator ‘=’ is selected in front of the field.

NOT: word1 not word2 – search result: files containing word1 but not word2.

Brackets: for listing order of priorities of search elements by indication of more advanced search strings.

NEAR: proximity operator. To be used for a specific sequence of several words/names.

Stopwords: A number of English words are used as operators in advanced searches in the Oracle database that contains the register information (e.g. ‘near’). These words cannot be searched for as individual search words as it is a prerequisite condition that such words must be followed by something else. The search can only be conducted by adding ‘*’ to the search word (e.g. ‘near*’). An error message will be displayed for searches for stopwords without ‘*’ See the stopword list.

The search field ‘class’: search for Nice-classes – see further information by clicking on ‘?’ to the left of the class search field.

Combination of search fields: By filling in several fields the search will find files in which all entered criteria are met (the fields are automatically combined with the operator AND).

Selection of search fields: From the menu item ‘setup’, registered users can select the search fields to be displayed. Check the box next to the search field in order to add or leave out a search field. (enables individual customisation).

The search field ‘date’: If a date/date interval shall be included in a search, one of the following types of dates must be pre-selected:

application date (filing date of application if all requirements are fulfilled)

registration date (date of registration of a trademark)

reg.proc.end (date of completion of the registration procedure, i.e. approval of application for registration)

The search field ‘applicant/holder’: Search for individuals or companies, who have filed a trademark application or are holders of a registered trademark.

The search field ‘representative’: Search for individuals or companies, who attend to all correspondence with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of the applicant/holder).

The search field ‘opponent’: Searches for individuals or companies who have filed an opposition, who have requested administrative revocation or who have appealed a decision.

Search result

Only search results with less than 500 references can be displayed. If the search result exceeds the limit of 500 references, the user will be redirected to the search image to set up the search criteria for a more specific/more narrow search, e.g. by adding a number or time interval or by adding further search criteria.

The search results can be sorted by clicking on a column heading (red arrow indicates ascending or descending order).

If the search result takes up more than one page, the additional pages can be selected at the bottom of the search image.

4 columns are displayed: application number, registration number, applicant/holder and mark text.

From the menu item ‘setup’ registered users can select the information to be displayed (the column ‘application number’ is compulsory – 3 additional columns can be selected). Default sorting is also possible. The number of references to be displayed on each page can be selected on top of the setup image. You can choose between 10, 25, 50 and 100.

Save references

Registered users can save the references by checking the box left of the file number in the search result image. Click on ‘save references’ at the bottom of the search result image after having selected the references. Please note that ‘save references’ must be clicked on for each page if the search result takes up more than one page. If all file numbers are to be saved, you only need to check the box on top of the search result image once. Saved references can retrieved from the menu item ‘references’ (registered users only)
